TEN provides information, advice, support and encouragement to any individual or organisation seeking performance improvement. The company exists to help promote a culture of sustainable excellence. Its key tool is POTENTIAL, a multi-faceted performance questionnaire, which organisations use to measure strengths in ten key areas.

Truly excellent organisations are characterised by their ability to learn from others and adapt their behaviours and practices to meet ever changing customer needs. The Excellent Network enables organisations of all types to identify and develop the very best operational and management practices and to implement them using simple but effective approaches.

Whether you need to be excellent at self-awareness, creativity, goal-setting, time management, emotional intelligence, coaching, influencing, networking, communicating or simply being fit to lead, we are with you every step of the way. Whatever your size, sector, or interest, we can help you improve the performance of your organisation through training, networking and facilitation. We also offer the Steps to Excellence recognition scheme which offers a route to the Committed to Excellence accreditation.

What is Steps to Excellence?

The first step is to complete our workbook, develop an action plan that addresses the ten concepts of excellence, and achieve the Committed to Excellence accreditation. The second step will involve a one-day site visit by our volunteer assessors who will validate progress against your action plan. If your business has improved, additional recognition will be achieved.

What are the Concepts of Excellence?

Following extensive research into how successful companies make best use of their resources, ten concepts of excellence were identified that are vital to creating and preserving value. The concepts are derived from exemplary organisations that have achieved excellence in all or many of the following areas:

  • Leadership: excellent organisations have enthusiastic leaders
  • Strategy: excellent organisations have a clear direction and established values, ethics and governance
  • People: excellent organisations enable employees to develop and fulfil their potential
  • Partnerships: excellent organisations develop and maintain value adding partnerships
  • Communication: excellent organisations communicate openly with their people, customers and shareholders
  • Processes: excellent organisations constantly introduce new or improved products and services
  • Customers: excellent organisations listen to their customers and exceed their expectations
  • Responsibility: excellent organisations perform as responsible members of the community and society
  • Measurement: excellent organisations maintain a systematic approach to assessing and improving performance
  • Innovation: excellent organisations exploit new ways of doing things
